Shiba Zojoji Temple in Snow Masterpiece by Kawase Hasui

[Japan] One of the most famous and sought after Shin-hanga woodblock prints by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), the print is titled, 'Shiba Zojoji' in Japanese (Zojoji Temple in Shiba [Tokyo]). Hasui first produced the work in 1925 as the date at lower left reads and numerous subsequent printings were made. The print was published by Watanabe Shozaburo and his seal on the print at lower right is the so-called 'C' seal (sausage seal) that was used by Watanabe from 1929-1942, indicating this is almost certainly a pre-WWII printing. It really is a stunning work.
