CDV of Aoki Umezo taken by Nadar in Paris
[Japan] Scarce CDV of embassy barber, Aoki Umezo (dates unknown), a member of the Second Japanese Embassy to Europe in 1864. Aoki apparently kept a diary, of which some sections have survived. The photogapher Nadar, whose real name was Gaspard-Felix Tournachon, became a very well-known photographer. Mounted on Nadar's studio card with the 'N' printed in red at lower right. Studio address on rear. Inscribed on rear, 'A-oki U-mezo', along with his name in Japanese.
