Large Format Photo of Yokohama Fire Brigade attributed to Raimund von Stillfried
[Japan] Excellent albumen print photo showing one of the teams of the Yokohama Fire Brigade. At the bottom of the ladder we can see the initials YFB. In the early days when Yokohama was opened up, fires were numerous and these teams would not only put out fires but also quickly knock down wooden buildings near the fire (even if they were actually unaffected by the fire) in order to stop it spreading.
