Woodblock Printed Triptych of Stone Bridge and Buildings in Kyobashi 三代歌川広重画

[Japan] Very nice triptych showing the modern brick buildings and stone bridge in Kyobashi, Tokyo, during spring. People are going about their business on foot, by rickshaw, by horse and carriage, and by boat. Interestingly, the censor seal doesn't match any of those used from 1859 to 1876 but other works by Hiroshige III of the Kyobashi area tend to be from around 1874 so we believe this is also from that year. Woodblock prints made from 1876 onwards were required to be dated using the Japanese calendar.

[Tokyo]. Hamada Tetsugoro. c1874.

Each panel approx. 36.5 x 24-25cm.

In good condition. Right panel with repaired area at lower right corner. Minor age wear, a few small, stray marks and a few tiny chips at edges. Unbacked with nice bleedthrough. u36111741
