[Japan] Impressive set of 8 books by Miyasaki Sachimaro filled with woodblock printed illustrations covering all aspects of the Japanese tea ceremony from accessories used (cups, bowls etc), tea garden layout and design, stone lanterns and so on. One volume has some colour woodblock prints, the final volume on the history of tea houses is basically text only. The books are: Volume 1 - Part 1 - Tea ceremony tools, Part 2 - Tea ceremony gardens, Part 3 - Stone and bamboo lanterns. Volume 2 - Famous incense ware (in colour), Volume 2 - Famous tea utensils. Volume 3 - Part 1 - Famous tea bowls, Part 2 - Famous tea bowls. The final volume is an appendix on the History of Japanese tea shops/cafes. First published in 1909, this is the 4th edition. Seven books are orihon in boards and the final volume is soft cover bound with silk ties as issued. The title in Japanese is, 'Sado Hokan'.

Overall in very good to fine condition. Just one or two pages in total with some light foxing. Folding case is also very good with some minor age wear, darkening and marks on the inside. b36111739
