Manuscript Book of Flowers Dated and with 15 beautiful, hand-drawn illustrations
[Japan] A very nice, hand-drawn and coloured manuscript orihon containing 15 very well-drawn illustrations of flora. The illustrations include a gingaso, then an akigiriso (a type of salvia), a few illustrations of a sekichiku (China pink), kaido (Hall crabapple), and a couple of illustrations of a shirohana mokuran (a white-flower type of orchid), and more. The book is titled in Japanese on cover, 'Kagashoku sharen cho' [Album of Coloured Flowers]. On the first blank page is a handwritten date (1826) and the name Kishuya Jiroemon who presumably drew the illustrations.
No place. Kishuya Jiroemon. 1826 [Bunsei 9].
15 double page illustrations. 24 x 15.7cm.
In good to very good condition. Decorative silk covers a bit worn and frayed at edges with minor loss. Internally very good with only a few very small worm trails affecting a small part of the first few leaves and a few stray marks here and there. m36111738
