[Japan] Scarce ranking list (banzuke) of famous Japanese artists and poets as well as the centre section listing poets of the aristocracy and others of high status. The artists listed in the left column are many but include: Yamana Tsurayoshi (1836-1902), Kano Tanbi (1840-1893), Hashimoto Gaho (1835-1908), Kawabata Gyokusho (1842-1913), Satake Eiko (1836-1909), Murata Gyokuden (1852-1917), Kawamura Ukoku (1838-1906), Matsumoto Fuko (1840-1923), Watanabe Shotei (1852-1918), Atomi Kakei (1840-1926), Noguchi Shohin (1847-1917), Kose Shoseki (1843-1919), Okubo Ichigaku (1845-1891), Araki Kanpo (1831-1915), Sugawara Hakuryu (1833-1898), and Hattori Hazan (1827-1894). The poets listed in the right column include: Yamada Akiyoshi (1844-1892), Okamoto Hansuke (1812-1898), Kanei Kindo (1833-1907), Miyakoji Yasufumi (1826-1899), Yoda Gakkai (1834-1909), Shimaji Mokurai (1838-1911), Ouchi Seiran (1845-1918), Tsutsumi Seisai (1827-1892), Fukuchi Gen'ichiro (1841-1906), Maruyama Sakura (1840-1899), Suehiro Tetcho (1849-1896), Tani Tateki (1837-1911), and Torio Koyata (1848-1905). The center column list includes aristocrats such as: Higashikuze Michitomi (1834-1912), Prince Arisugawa Taruhito (1835-1895), Tokugawa Yoshinobu (1837-1913), Konoe Tadahiro (1808-1898), Matsudaira Naritami (1814-1891), Todo Takayuki (1813-1895), Akizuki Tanetatsu (1833-1904), Soejima Taneomi (1828-1905), Katsu Kaishu (1823-1899), Kawada Oko (1830-1896), Nakamura Masanao (1832-1891), Shigeno Yasutsugu (1827-1910), Kurimoto Joun (1822-1897), Ishikawa Kosai (1833-1918), and Shinobu Joken (1835-1910). 

 

Like other banzuke such as for sumo wrestlers, the top ranked people are at the top in larger characters and the lower ranks below in smaller characters.
