Hanging Scroll of Foreign Steam Ship Impressive, large, hand-drawn and coloured illustration
[Japan] A wonderful illustration mounted on a hanging scroll showing a foreign steamship under sail in somewhat rough seas while the crew busy themselves on board. Interestingly, the red material on top of the masts is blowing the wrong way or perhaps the vessel is reversing out of port? The small boat next to the ship would also indicate the vessel is near land.
