Cabinet Card Photo of the U.S.S. Swatara and officers taken in Yokohama by Suzuki Shin'ichi
[Japan] Very nice cabinet card that is a composite image of the officers of the US Navy vessel, USS Swatara on one of her visits to Yokohama. The USS Swatara was launched in 1873 though she was actually a complete rebuild of another vessel named USS Swatara first built in 1865. She was eventually sold for scrap in 1896 in San Francisco. Inscribed on rear, 'Officers. U.S.S. "Swatara" 1881'.
