Ambrotype of Samurai with Two Ladies Early glass photo probably by Hori Masumi (Yohei)
[Japan] Very interesting ambrotype of a samurai with two ladies. His wife is presumably on the left (his right) as she has her hand on his knee and the other young lady is actually holding his sword. Both actions are quite uncommon in such photos.
Photographer unknown but probably Hori Masumi (Yohei) who had a studio in Kyoto from 1864 until about 1880. 10.2 x 8cm (glass size).
In very good condition. Good contrast. One black mark at upper left. Box is incomplete (a new box can be custom made at cost if required). p36051627
