Japan in Days of Yore - 4 vols. complete by Walter Dening
[Japan] Lovely, complete set of this 4-volume series on the olden days of Japan illustrated with numerous woodblock prints. Single volumes or pairs sometimes turn up but a full set in such nice condition is difficult to find these days. Walter Dening (1846-1913) first came to Japan in 1873 and lived most of the rest of his life there. The four volumes are: "Human Nature in a Variety of Aspects" (Volume 1), "Wounded Pride and How it Was Healed" (Volume 2), and "The Life of Miyamoto Musashi (Volumes 3 and 4). From 1888-1890, Dening also wrote a 5-volume series titled, 'The Life of Toyotomi HIdeyoshi'.

In very good condition, string bindings firm. Minor wear to wraps. Internally very good. In modern custom made folding case. b36051604
