Pettee (1851-1920) first came to Japan in 1878 and founded an orphanage in Okayama the following year.

In very good condition. Some wear to covers and small area of abrasion to front cover. Binding has been professionally restored. Internally very good with very little wear. Folding map very good with small loss to lower corner tip and short split at bottom of fold. Blind stamp of 'Hammond Library - Chicago Theological Seminary' in two initial pages and a few small reference numbers on one page. Otherwise very good. b36041603
