Imayo Genji Hana Soroi by Kunisada II 3 Woodblock prints from this wonderful series
[Japan] Three wonderful woodbock prints from this lovely floral series by Kunisada II (1823-1880), who later was known as Toyokuni IV. The Japanese title translates to, 'Collection of Flowers and Modern Genji'. Two of the prints form a diptych with two ladies in ornate kimono along with beautiful hydrangea and hibiscus in the background. One of the ladies is holding a box with an illustration on it and what appears to be characters for 'kanzaki' written on it. The other lady is holding a flyer that appears to read 'Kame no toshi'. The other single print shows a lady in a beautiful kimono with fan and some morning glories in various colours.
Fukagawa, Edo [Tokyo]. Etchika. 1861.
Each 37 x 25.4cm.
