Doctrines et Ceremonies Religieuses du pays D'Annam One of only 6 copies on crepe paper by André Coué
[Japan] An amazing crepe paper book in French about the beliefs and religious ceremonies of the people of Annam (part of present day Vietnam). Coué had 250 copies printed on Chinese paper and just 6 copies on Japanese crepe paper. This is No. 3 of the six books published on crepe paper. The book also can claim the record for having the largest number of leaves (82) for a crepe paper book. One wonders where he sourced the crepe paper. It would almost have to have been from Hasegawa/Nishinomiya in Tokyo but this remains a mystery. Also the string binding and folding case indicate strong Japanese influences but why? Very little seems to be known about André Coué, but this book confirms that he was willing to put in a lot of effort to get the result he wanted.
