Kobe, Japan and its Picturesque Neighbourhood A Handbook Issued by the Tor Hotel
[Japan] Scarce, early guidebook to Kobe published by the Tor Hotel, that was founded in 1908. This is the first time we have seen this particular work. According to the Japanese colophon, it was written by Douglas M. Young who, according to the Japan Directory for 1909 was Acting Editor at the Japan Chronicle in Kobe and in 1912 worked for the Far Eastern Advertising Agency, also in Kobe. A very nice, illustrated guidebook with numerous advertisements as well as a folded programme for the Asahikwan Grand Cinematograph held on 30 June, 1912 that has been loosely inserted by the original owner no doubt.
