The Mineral Wealth of Japan by Adj. Prof. Henry S. Munroe
[Japan] Scarce publication by U.S. geologist Henry Smith Monroe (1850-1933), who worked in Japan for the Meiji government from 1872-75, and then Tokyo Imperial University from 1875-76 before returning to the U.S. to study for a PhD at Columbia University. He worked in Hokkaido with Benjamin Smith Lyman (1835-1920), conducting land resources surveys in order to develop Japan's mineral resources there, hence this publication which was also published in Vol. V of, 'Transactions of the American Institute of Mining Engineers'.
