Beautiful Japanese Hand-Painted Fan Sold by Haibara Naojiro

[Japan] A superb hand fan in its original woodblock printed, decorative paper folder. Both sides show floral scenes and the fan has a beautiful, lacquered wooden handle. Haibara still operates in Nihonbashi, Tokyo and was founded in 1806. Haibara Naojiro (1846-1910) was the 3rd generation owner of the store. We decided not to remove the fan from the folder so have not photographed the reverse side in order to keep it in pristine condition.

Haibara. Tokyo. c1890.

Fan measures 37.5 x 23.8cm and folder 38.2 x 27.5cm.

In as new, unused condition. The folder has some very minor wear and very faint spotting but is still very good. nb35080010
