Chinki Monogatari Illustrated by Kawanabe Kyosai
[Japan] Very scarce, woodblock printed book titled, 'Chinki Monogatari' or 'Tales of Strange Things', by Aoki Sukekiyo and edited by someone using the name Tokoro Shujin. A bizarre work illustrated with wonderful art by Kawanabe Kyosai (1831-89), the book even has images of Eskimo at the end. Two volumes bound in one as issued.

In good condition. Covers worn and title slip mostly gone. Internally good but small hole on title page, thumbing to lower corners, stain affecting 3 leaves including part of one illustration. Old date of Meiji 8 (1875) written inside rear cover. Otherwise good. b35051399
