Americans at the Pleasure Quarters by Ichiryusai Yoshitoyo
[Japan] A very early Yokohama woodblock print showing two Americans and a very young girl supposedly at the pleasure quarters of Yokohama. The man in uniform is presumably a ship's captain and the man lighting his pipe probably one of his crew. The censor seal indicates the print was published in December 1860. Yoshitoyo was a pupil of Kunisada and then Kuniyoshi, but he died in 1866 at just 36 years old.
