Kamakura, Japan Guide Book by the Kaihin-in Hotel
[Japan] Scarce guide book to Kamakura complete with the two folding maps in pocket inside front cover. The Kaihin-in was Japan's first seaside sanatorium for tuberculosis patients and opened in 1887. In 1889 foreign guests began to stay at the facility. The name was changed to Kamakura Kaihin-in (Seaside) Hotel in 1916. In 1945, it burned down due to an accidental fire and was never rebuilt. The booklet also contains a loose postcard with a colour photographic illustration of the hotel.
