Cabinet Card Photos of Inoue Katsunosuke and Sueko Taken in Berlin, Germany
[Japan] Pair of cabinet cards, one with a portrait of diplomat Inoue Katsunosuke (1860-1929) and the other his wife, Inoue Sueko (née Ozaki)(1864-1934). Katsunosuke, born in Yamaguchi, was the adopted son of statesman Inoue Kaoru (1835-1915) and was sent to study in England at a young age. He went on to work for the Japanese legation in Berlin and later became ambassador to the UK. Sueko was the daughter of Ozaki Masamichi and she also went to England at a young age with the support of Inoue Kaoru and his wife. The photo of Sueko is inscribed on the rear to the wife of Arthur Diosy and the photo of Katsunosuke is signed on the rear.

In good condition with some old faint spotting on the photo of Katsunosuke which is inscribed on the rear, 'Katsunosuke Inouye'. Less spotting on the photo of Sueko which is captioned on the rear, 'To Mrs A. Diosy. With love from S. Inouye. August 29th, 1886'. p35031357
