Group of 29 Woodblock Printed Postcards by Hasegawa Takejiro

[Japan] Scarce group of beautiful, woodblock printed postcards published and sold by Hasegawa Takejiro. The cards were usually sold in sets of 6 and three of the sets here still have their original, woodblock printed folding paper wrappers. Interestingly, the wrappers are titled in French. The remaining 11 cards appear to come from 3 other different sets (two cards are duplicates). Some cards are c1900 and others c1920 based on Hasegawa's addresses. Y. Nishinomiya was Hasegawa's son. This group includes views of Kyoto and Tokyo. The silhouette illustrations are especially nice.

Tokyo. Hasegawa Takejiro. c1900-1920.

each approx. 14 x 9cm.

All in very good condition. One card is used. The paper wrapper for the silhouette set is present but has separated at its folds. Some cards slightly curved. Otherwise all cards are very good. nb34120008
