Japanese Proverbs and Pictures Selected and edited by Frederick Starr
[Japan] A very nice example of what has become a difficult book to find in good condition. The covers are crepe paper and the pages are woodblock printed on fine Japanese paper. The font used looks very similar to the original font Hasegawa Takejiro made for some of the books he published but there is no mention of Hasegawa. Made to look like it is bound fukurotoji (pocket) style but each page is actually two leaves glued together at the leading edge as issued.
