[Japan] The Sounds Employed in the English Language by Charles H. Dallas and translated by Yoshio Kazuichi. Charles Henry Dallas (1841-94) was employed at the first foreign language school established in Yonezawa (present day Yamagata prefecture) from 1871-75. In 1870, before moving to Yonezawa, he was attacked and injured by ronin in Tokyo and needed months to recover. He also wrote a paper on the Yonezawa dialect of Japanese. Later he moved to China and died there in 1894.
