Superb, large format photo of Japanese Lady in Kariginu ceremonial dress Hand-coloured albumen photo
[Japan] Superbly coloured, albumen photo of a lady wearing a type of 'kariginu', which was originally a hunting outfit but became the casual clothing of nobles. Numbered in the negative '22' at the lower right of the lady that looks like Usui Shuzaburo's style or possibly Baron Raimund von Stillfried. On the reverse side is a poorly coloured photo of Shiba at Tokyo that matches Tamamura Kozaburo's numbering system.
Attributed to Usui Shuzaburo. c1885.
24.4 x 19.5cm.
In very good condition with only a few tiny marks. Mounted on card. nb33040020
