The Geisha Otsuru of Shimbashi Reading a Book by Kunichika

[Japan] Lovely woodblock printed ukiyoe of a beautiful geisha named Otsuru at a restaurant from the series of 36 Famous Tokyo Restaurants by Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900). Presumably this restaurant specialises in dengaku (skewered tofu in a miso sauce) as can be seen in the pan above her.

Nihonbashi [Tokyo]. Yorozuya Magobei. 1870.

35.1 x 24.8cm.

In very good condition. Almost no wear, unbacked with nice bleedthrough. u33040886
