[Japan] Scarce, uncoloured albumen photo of a tattooed man who was probably a 'betto' or groom who took care of horses. Number matches a Kimbei photo titled, 'Japanese tattoo' though this one just says 'tattoo'. Titled in negative at left of man, '228. TATTOO.'
Probably Kusakabe Kimbei. c1890.

In good condition. Has an old repaired tear at center right. Minor wear and a few tiny chips at edges. Unmounted. p33050953
