Large format photo of the Shanghai Cricket Club Taken in Kobe by M. Hiramura
[Japan]. Scarce and quite possibly unique surviving photo showing thirteen members of the Shanghai Cricket Club, who visited Kobe in 1895 for inter-port matches with Kobe and Yokohama. The photo was taken by M. Hiramura of Kobe and he was probably the son of Tokubei Hiramura, who opened his studio in Kobe in 1870 (or 1872 according to another source). Tokubei died in 1894 and there is a possibility the 'M' refers to 'Mr.' as Tokubei's son was apparently named Kiyoshi. The Hiramura studio is still operating as a photo studio in Kobe today.
