Entrance ticket for Westerner to the 1st Exposition in Kyoto, Japan with rules & regulations booklet in English
Scarce ticket with permission to enter Kyoto for the first Japanese exposition held at Honganji in 1872. As the expo was held prior to foreigners being allowed outside the treaty ports of Yokohama, Nagasaki and Hakodate, special permission was required to visit Kyoto. Also included is a document referring to the American vessel 'Costa Rica' that is dated 1869 along with a booklet in English with rules regarding the exposition There is also a card explaining in Japanese about the documents.
Ticket has been rebacked to repair old worming. All 4 items have general age wear and minor darkening.
