Superb CDV of Hatakeyama (1842-76) who used the name Kozo Sugiura when studying at Rutgers University (then Rutgers College) from 1868-71. Signed on the rear, 'Your Japanese friend, Kozo Soogiwoora' in English and 'Sugiura Kozo (杉浦弘蔵）in Japanese.
