Printed on relatively thick paper.

 

Extremely rare issue of the first English newspaper published in Japan. It was only published twice a week from 22nd Jun to 1st Oct, 1861 in Nagasaki. The Wednesday editions were 4 pages (1 large page folded) and the Saturday editions 2 pages (1 double sided page). This issue is the 4th one ever published. Hansard moved to Yokohama in November that year and started The Japan Herald newspaper.

 

Measures 46.3 x 34.5cm when folded in half.

 

In good condition. Some wear and chips to edges. Some stray marks and pencilled numbers above title. Fold lines.
