Group of Foreigners Watching Child Dance Woodblock printed triptych by Utagawa Yoshikazu
Titled Ikokujin Shuen Yuraku no Zu [Picture of Foreigners Drinking and Dancing], this is a scarce and lovely work by Yoshikazu. A large group of Westerners (most likely in Yokohama) in a large residence are watching a young Western girl dance to music. The window on the left shows the harbour and some ladies sitting on the left hold violins while the man on the far right is, interestingly, looking right at the viewer.
Published by Sanoya Kihei in 1860.
Each panel measures approx. 37 x 25cm.
Very nice impression. Only some minor wear and tiny chips at edges. Unbacked with nice bleedthrough.
